Ra ClickyTM Flashlight
The light that gets you home!

The Ra Clicky flashlight is a single button multi-brightness pocket flashlight built for the sophisticated flashlight user. HDS Systems invented the intelligent pocket flashlight 5 years ago and the Ra Clicky flashlight is the culmination of our pioneering technologies. You can directly and instantly access the brightness level you need - from a normal brightness that provides exceptionally long run times to a blinding tactical brightness level for emergencies to an extreme dim for preserving night vision. You can customize each brightness setting and other features to fit your particular needs. And the light is so small you can carry it with you wherever you go.

The Ra Clicky flashlight is available in the following models:

GT stands for Guaranteed Tint. The color tint of these LEDs will lie close to the Planckian black body radiator line in the range of 0.30 to 0.33 on the x-coordinate on the CIE-1931 Chromaticity Diagram.

All Ra Clicky flashlights provide the following common features:

4 preset brightness settings are available with a few simple button clicks. Press and hold the button for maximum. This interface has proven to be simple, elegant and very popular since we developed it 5 years ago. The brightness settings and the turn-on setting may be customized for special applications.

The brightness levels are fully regulated for constant brightness throughout the life of the battery. We provide the most efficient electronics and electrical path in its class.
The flashlight gracefully steps down to lower brightness levels to extend dying batteries and warns you when the battery needs changing.

Designed for use with both regular lithium batteries and rechargeable Li-ion batteries. Protects rechargeable batteries from over-discharge. Will not accidentally activate battery protection circuits.

Full thermal management keeps the LED and the flashlight at safe and efficient temperatures.
Fully potted electronics provide the ultimate in reliability under extreme conditions. The electronics are fully protected against shock and water.
The anti-shock battery compartment minimizes battery damage under extreme abuse and prevents electrical disconnect.

The ultra clear anti-reflective glass lens provides the maximum light output and improved scratch resistance. The extra thick lens is shock mounted and nearly unbreakable.
The flashlight is machined from aerospace aluminum and protected with a military black hard anodize finish. The crenelated stainless steel bezel provides impressive lens protection. Large robust threads are used throughout.

This flashlight may be customized for special applications to include momentary operation, automatic shut-off, button lock, locator flash, burst output, disorienting strobe, emergency strobe signaling and emergency SOS signaling.

Reverse battery protection without diode power penalty.
Waterproof to 2 atmospheres (20m or 66 feet of water) - static.
Pocket clip, deep carry bezel up, MOLLE compatible, retaining.
Dimensions: Ø 25.5mm x 95mm (Ø 1" x 3.75").
Weight: 90g (3.2oz).

The above list provides the year Ra Lights first implemented and published the feature. To be fair, the seed ideas for some of the features originated from people living all around the world - especially from the caving community. Some ideas were simply borrowed from other industries.

A simple idea is likely to occur to a large number of people in a similar situation. A simple idea for a product or feature tends to have very little initial value. Why? Because it can be a long expensive journey from having an idea to getting it into production. The closer to production it is, the more value it has.

Take using LEDs for a flashlight as an example. Anyone who thinks about the design of a flashlight will immediately understand the value of a rugged, concentrated and efficient light source. When practical LEDs became available, it was obvious to lots of people that LEDs should be used to make a flashlight. That was the simple idea. The difficult part was solving all the problems associated with LEDs in order to make a practical and affordable flashlight.

The difference between a simple idea and a practical implementation is why the Patent Office requires that patents be: a) novel and b) not obvious to one skilled in the art.

HDS/RaLights Systems has the honor of being the first company to manufacture and market a high brightness LED flashlight - a flashlight that could equal or exceed the light output and duration of a standard 2 D-cell incandescent flashlight. That original flashlight was fully regulated, had multiple brightness levels, automatically stepped-down in brightness to extend dying batteries while warning the user it was time to change the battery and the flashlight was housed in a aerospace aluminum case protected by military hard anodize. The flashlight was powered by a single lithium battery that would drive the high brightness setting for 12 continuous hours at a constant brightness.
